MOBILE EXPERIENCES FOR TOURISM
Tourism is one of the largest global industries, both in terms of numbers of participants and aggregate expenditures. We are engineering high-fidelity mobile prototypes that delivers new and novel content to touring visitors in the greater Rochester area.

Brian O’Keefe Ph.D. has created and lead a new Masters Human Computer Interaction seminar course at Rochester Institute of Technology called “Mobile Experiences for Tourism”. With Masters students and RIT faculty we have developed several design strategies using GPS data, augmented reality and persistent UI interactions to delight visitors before, during and after their visits.

We are collaborating with Visit Rochester and their member locations e.g. Genesee Village Country & Museum, Seneca Zoo, Mount Hope Cemetery and many more to test and deliver our system. Our research is in concert with Edinburgh Napier University, UK, to measure our results against various interaction design methods/theories and effectively evaluate our research in the mobile tourism domain.
